Vera Finds Her Voice

After 6 weeks in Texas, Vera has finally found a song she can call her own!!!!

Vera has had all “smiley faces” from her teacher at school, and her teacher says she is doing well. The kids all seem to like her and Vera seems to enjoy going to school.

Here are some photos…

On July 22, Aric’s Cub Scout Pack had a hike down at Hamilton Pool. We took Vera. She didn’t like the heat much, I don’t think..

Our Friend Cassandra came over this afternoon and brought one of Vera’s best friends. Here is a nice shot of the two… They could be sisters! Aren’t they adorable?

Well, I’m off to Gulfport, MS tomorrow morning to do some Katrina rebuilding. I’ll be back on Monday! I’ll take photos.

I’m going with the church’s (Austin Christian Fellowship) men’s group, with about 37 other guys. Should be an amazing experience.

It’s Finally Here!

It’s that day that all parents long for, and all children dread…the FIRST day of school! (Do those faces look happy? Hmmm. 6:48 a.m., and time to catch the bus!)

Vera definitely is not a morning person. She pulled the covers back over her head and let us know in NO uncertain terms that waking up before the sun shines is not acceptable. Richard picked her up and nicely carried her down the stairs, where food, new clothing, and the excitement of the day woke her up.

Vera got to meet her teacher last night, and see her classroom and desk. She loves the playground and seems to feel right at home. She was walking down the hallway, saying “hi” to everyone she met. We can’t wait to hear about her first day!
